Thank you to everyone who attended Tuesday evening's park race series event at Fairlop Waters Country Park! It was great to see a really healthy turnout, despite this being one of the further out venues in this year's series, and the fantastic weather probably encourage people to make the journey to the event on the Hainault loop or by car. Adam Dent planned a fantastic pair of courses, and it was pleasing to hear really favourable comments about these, as well as about the map which had been extensively updated and enlarged by Tony Maycraft. While there was a regrettable delay in getting all controls out, pushing back the first start by around 15 minutes, the event otherwise seemed to run pretty smoothly, thanks to the efforts of the CHIG volunteers who helped setting out and collecting in controls as well as in manning and setting out the start and in running enquiries and download; thank you very much to Dave, Dominique, Iain, Jacob, Ray Weekes, Ray Curtis, Sally and Tim!

I hope you enjoyed a fast, flat, open course while still finding a few of the navigations and route choices to be challenging. I found a former golf course returning to nature to be a unique and fun area to work with. You may not have agreed when trying to spot a former bunker hidden in the long grass, but I hope you enjoyed the quirky setting and its unexpected features, like a boat in a bunker!

It was a shame I couldn't work out a constructive way to get you closer to the eerie, disused driving range in the heart of the park. Next time, I want some controls on the lake's floating inflatable assault course! I was delighted to speak to one runner who remembered playing golf on the course before it was left to go wild.

Massive thanks to Tony Maycraft for creating and maintaining such a detailed map, even with a moving target every time they mowed the paths! Also to Ray Weekes for illuminating, patient and thoughtful feedback on my iterations of the route, only the second time I have planned a non-street-O
