Saturday Training

Venue: Epping East (The Stubbles)
Objective: To practice hanging and collecting controls

There will be only one exercise this week.

This exercise is called the star train. It basically involves pairs hanging and collecting controls. The first person will go out with a mini control and hang it at number one then come back. The second person must then go and pick up that control and move it on to number two. This continues until the course has been completed and the control has successfully moved all the way around the course.

The idea behind this activity is to get you thinking about where exactly controls should be hung and building confidence in your ability. Usually an orienteer would run to a control site and spot the control sometimes before the feature. This gets you thinking about navigating to actual features instead and being confident you are in the correct place.
