CHIG win Snail Trail Trophy

CHIG have won HAVOC’s Snail Trail Trophy event at Epping SW on 14th Oct, despite several competitors encountering a hornet’s nest. Using an arcane scoring method, we notched up only 59523 penalty points, beating WAOC, SUFFOC, NOR and HAVOC! The Trophy has now been handed over (see photo). It’s nice enough to want to win it again next year!

Notable Performances

The Green family holiday to Devon got off to a good start for Dad with a 3rd place in the Dartmoor Long O (6th Oct) and a win in the Exmoor Long O (7th Oct). Individual day winners received a hand made mug and the winner of the Two Moors Challenge gets a pair of framed water colours (which I’m looking forward to collecting at the November Classic on Sunday). The Exmoor race promised purgatorial boggy tussocks and they certainly lived up to their reputation!

Salcey Regional (Midland Champs), 28th Oct

  • Kostya Lutsenko 2nd M21S
  • Pete Cheetham 3rd M45S
  • Robin Campbell 1st M70L
  • Ruby Campbell 2nd W65L (running up)

OMM, Lowther Hills, 27-28th Oct

  • Jeff Green and Darrell High (SO) 2nd Long Score

After leading overnight by a whisker, we were out flanked in the last hour of day 2 to lose by just 15 points.

Compass Sport Trophy – 13th January, 2008

Next year the first round of the Compass Sport Cup/Trophy is a couple of months earlier than it was this year. If you only run for your club once this year, make Sunday 13th January the day! Every run counts: even if you don’t have a good enough run to score points for CHIG, the more runners we can turm out, the more we can reduce other clubs’ scores. The venue has yet to be confirmed, but it is likely to be the DFOK event at Shorne & Darnley, near Gravesend. Please put the date in your diaries.
