Gunpowder Park – Organisers Report

Thank you all for making this event such a success.
119 competitors was rather more than anticipated, as it was almost double the competitors we had last year. We almost ran out of Frolic Extension maps, and certainly did run out of registration forms!
Thank you also for your patience at the start. Perhaps next time we will alternate Frolics/ Frolics extension starters at 30 second intervals. Your comments on this would be appreciated. Please feel free to use our feedback section on our club website.

I trust LOK had an enjoyable location for their club championships. I did notice several LOKs soaking up the sunshine afterwards and enjoying their picnic.

Thanks to Lee Valley Country Park for the land permission, proper toilets that were already open when I arrived and also the use of the overflow car park which certainly was appreciated.
Also thanks to Enfield Island Village Trust for use of the built up area for the Frolic Extension course.

Finally thank you to the two orienteers from FK Hvekules, Gothenburg, Sweden in giving this event an international flavour. Apparently they were in London on holiday and wanted to sample UK orienteering. I explained to them that this is not typical terrain, but they concurred as there is a forest ban in Sweden at this time of the year during the breeding season, and they also use parks, etc during late spring/ early summer.
