Event Entry & Registration

You are encouraged to submit your entry details in advance using our online form to help our event volunteer team and to guarantee a map on the course you wish to run. However you are welcome to just turn up on the day when you can either bring a completed entry form [download a PDF form here] or fill one in at registration. The registration desk will be clearly identified from the car parking area.

Groups Are Welcome. Please phone or email with numbers in advance to ensure sufficient maps available.

Online Registration with Pay on Day

Please note that if you are not a BOF member, your address is required for insurance purposes.

Those completing online registration will have a map reserved until 11:30, 30 minutes before the last start time. If you intend to arrive after 11:30 please send an email to webmaster@chig.org.uk and we will hold your map for longer.
When you arrive at the event go to the registration desk and advise that you have registered online. Just confirm you name and course, pay your entry fee and you will be ready to start.

Equipment and Electronic Timing

A compass is useful, but not essential on beginners courses.

Electronic Punching (EPS SportIdent) (“dibbers”) will be used at the event. These can be hired – seniors £1.00, juniors free. Charge for lost dibbers £30.00.

Safety

Full leg cover is strongly recommended.

Please be considerate of other forest users including cyclists, horse riders and members of the general public. The whole area is popular with dog walkers. You must report to “download” at the registration point even if you do not finish the course.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, please check the CHIG website for any announcements from the event organiser before travelling.

Competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.

Please note that if you have competed in three orienteering events registered with British Orienteering and not joined an orienteering club which is a member of British Orienteering then you are not covered by our public liability insurance.

Well behaved dogs are welcome at this event but any mess must be cleared up, and they must be kept under control at all times.
