Courses
A one hour score course, with control sites worth between 10 and 50 points, mostly, but not exclusively according to how far away they are. You will be given a choice of three answers – mark the correct one when you see the control.
This is a control visiting event! Circling answers at controls you have not visited, on the off chance you get it right, is cheating. Answers must be marked in race time.
Your score will be reduced by 2% of the points scored for every minute or part minute late.
League Scoring
The leading man and woman will score 100 points, second place 99 etc. In addition, your score will be increased by a multiple depending on your age and sex, and the resultant points used in the same way for a handicap competition.
This year, we will have a special series t-shirt/technical top (to feature the Central Line stations where events are located) for the winners of each of the Mens, Women’s and Handicap leagues.
Map & Terrain
The map is 1:10,000, with streets, paths and open areas marked. It will be printed on waterproof paper, with the clues on the back.
Results
Results will be available after the event at www.chig.org.uk.
Equipment & Safety
You are advised to bring a torch and compass, as well as a pen to mark your answers. We hope to use electronic timing, so bring your own dibber if you have one. Light coloured clothing for extra visibility is advised.
Aprés Run
Join your fellow orienteers for a friendly drink, food and a chat and please support our host pub for this Race. The Leyton Star offers a range of burgers, wings, and vegetarian options, as well as a range of beers and ciders on tap and in the fridge.
