North London Street Orienteering League – Whitechapel Race Report & Results

Thanks to all the runners who turned up last night, and thanks for all the feedback you gave.  It was my first time as an organiser so will take all the comments on board for the future.

As the course was set in Whitechapel, 7 of the controls were involved with Jack the Ripper. I tried to find an ‘interesting’ object as close to the sites as possible. They were :-

21 – Martha Tabram (George Yard)

22 – Mary Ann Nichols (Buck’s Row)

23 – Annie Chapman (Hanbury Street)

24 – Elizabeth Stride (Berner Street)

25 – Catherine Eddowes (Mitre Square)

26 – Mary Jane Kelly (Millers Court)

27 – Site of the Goulston Street Graffito

No one visited all seven controls, but one or two visited six of them. Hopefully you didn’t get too many strange looks from any of the Jack the Ripper Tours!

A few people said that there were a couple of controls that were hard to find.  I’ve taken a couple of screenshots from Google Maps, with the locations.

25 – Blue Plaque

30 – Burglar Alarm

In hindsight, control 30 was probably too hard to spot, so I apologise if it took you too long to find it.

Hopefully, I’ll see you all at the final event in Victoria Park.

Thanks

Russell
