Captains Blog – December 2011

Hi All

I hope you have all managed to venture into the woods for at least one event this season.  The weather has been mild and not too wet, so it has been great orienteering conditions.

Well done to Ray and Peter and all the helpers at the Mitre event on 20 November.  The event seemed to go well and we also had a good turnout of CHIG runners.

A quick note to confirm some major events happening during the year that you may wish to consider.

SE League Competition

13-Nov-11 SN Wisley & Ockham Common

20-Nov-11 CHIG Epping
15-Jan-12 MV Epsom & Ashstead Commons
22-Jan-12 HH Northaw
26-Feb-12 DFOK Mereworth
04-Mar-12 GO Furnace Ponds & Woolbeding
03-Jun-12 SO Oldhouse Warren (Jubilee W/E Classic)

The club had some good performances at the first two events, although turnout at the Wisley event meant that we are in 7th after the first event.  Hopefully, we can build on the results from Epping and move up the league.

To be hosted by CHIG in Epping forest on Sunday 23 September, rule the weekend out for the London City Race on the Saturday.  We will need all the helpers we can, but hopefully most people can also get a run in too!

SE Sprints & Relays

I have not been able to confirm a date for this, however if anyone is ‘in the know’ then please share it.

At the end of the year, I will be stepping down as Club Captain after a couple of years. 2012 sees me moving professions, starting a new job and completing lots of studies.  I hope to see you all at events soon.

Regards
