Captain’s Blog – September 2008

Firstly, I confess that I may have missed some notable performances from the first half of September. I was concentrating on building my training rather than orienteering. However, from what I can see from the results submitted to the British Orienteering website and Ranking List events, there weren’t any regional events in the south. Please let me know if I’ve missed any interesting events.

Unfortunately a foot injury brought my training to an abrupt halt in the middle of September. Now, some three weeks later, I’m hoping to return my crutches and start returning to some kind of fitness. Training will then be focussed on my next big event: the arrival of Edward’s little sister (expected sometime just before Christmas)!

HAVOC Snail Trail, Epping SW, 28th Sep

After last year’s victory, CHIG again managed a very creditable performance coming second out of 10 clubs, beating SLOW, but losing to HH. Twenty CHIG members ran, with a welcome return to form after injury for Robert Campbell coming 4th on Brown. Tom Edelsten continued his excellent form beating plenty of M21s on Brown and was our best Snail Trail points scorer. Tim Pribul and Peter Cheetham also ran well coming in 5th on Blue and 10th on Green respectively. Our other Snail Trail scorers were: Jennifer Taylor, Ruby and Alice Campbell, Ros West and Helen Hampton. Well done to all!
